Prerequisites
- • Phyrexian Devourer on the battlefield
- • Fling in hand with {1}{R} available
- • Sufficient library size to reach lethal power
Requirements
The Combo: Storyboard
Step 1
Cast Phyrexian Devourer.
Step 2
Activate Phyrexian Devourer's ability, exiling cards from the top of your library one at a time to add +1/+1 counters equal to each card's mana value.
Step 3
When the sacrifice trigger occurs (power >= 7), respond to it by stacking additional activations to grow Devourer's power to a lethal amount.
Step 4
Cast Fling, sacrificing Phyrexian Devourer to deal lethal damage to your opponent.
⚠ Rules Note
Phyrexian Devourer's sacrifice trigger is a triggered ability. Under post-6th Edition rules (which apply in Premodern), you may respond to the trigger with additional activations of the Devourer's activated ability, growing it to a lethal size before the sacrifice resolves. You must cast Fling in response to the sacrifice trigger, sacrificing Devourer as an additional cost.
