Survival Welder
Artifact Combo
Overview
"Survival Welder pairs Survival of the Fittest with Goblin Welder into a self-fueling engine: Survival discards creatures to tutor up Squee, Goblin Nabob and Anger, all of which return from or work within the graveyard to keep fuel flowing. Goblin Welder then swaps battlefield and graveyard artifacts at will, recurring Triskelion to sacrifice it for repeated damage and weld back a fresh copy. The deck also leans on Tangle Wire and Winter Orb to grind opponents under a resource lock while the Welder loop keeps its artifacts cycling, with Birds of Paradise and Wall of Roots accelerating the engine online."
Game Plan
Survival Welder opens by deploying mana (Birds of Paradise, Wall of Roots, and Quirion Ranger) to land Survival of the Fittest on turn two. Once Survival is active, the deck bins Anger into the graveyard to grant every creature haste, then chains Squee, Goblin Nabob as a free, self-returning discard target that converts Survival into a one-green tutor every turn. With Anger already resting in the yard, Goblin Welder enters with haste and can immediately swap a zero-cost artifact, Shield Sphere or Tsabo's Web, for Triskelion waiting in the graveyard. Tsabo's Web is a particularly elegant bridge: it draws a card on entry, then serves as prime Welder fodder to pull Triskelion into play, and the two can rotate back and forth, trading Triskelion out for a fresh Tsabo's Web draw when cards run low, then Welding the Web back out for Triskelion when the board needs clearing.
Once Triskelion is in play, the deck either pings the opponent down directly or sweeps their board of small creatures, and Goblin Welder recurs it whenever it falls. The stax layer closes the net: Tangle Wire lands first to strand the opponent's untapped permanents, then Winter Orb drops while Birds of Paradise and Quirion Ranger keep the deck producing mana past the one-untap clamp. Against removal and disruption the deck shifts into its grind mode: Genesis in the graveyard returns Triskelion, Goblin Welder, or any mana creature through repeated spot removal, and Sylvan Library keeps the hand stocked while Squee ensures Survival never runs dry. The deck rarely needs to fight through hate in a single burst; it simply rebuilds from the graveyard until the lock sticks and Triskelion ends the game.
