Protection dependency — The deck's entire resilience to targeted removal rests on Crystalline Sliver; until it resolves, every Sliver is exposed to cheap removal and there is no backup protection effect.
Lord — stacking fragility - Muscle Sliver and Blade Sliver pump the whole team, so a sweeper that connects before the board is rebuilt leaves the survivors reverting toward base stats and creates a near-unrecoverable tempo hole.
Mana acceleration risk — Mox Diamond demands discarding a land to enter, so hands leaning on it can be left land-light and unable to rebuild after a sweeper or mass bounce.
Linear synergy with no redundancy — Nearly every card is a Sliver or direct support, with no alternate win condition once the board is dismantled, making repeated sweepers or repeated edict effects (forced sacrifice) disproportionately punishing.

How to win with it

Keep opening hands with two lands plus a cheap Sliver start: Plated Sliver on turn one into a two-drop like Muscle Sliver, Winged Sliver, or Crystalline Sliver. Mulligan hands holding only Muscle Sliver or Blade Sliver with no early bodies, since their team pump does nothing without Slivers already on the board.
The dream draw is Plated Sliver on turn one, Muscle Sliver plus Winged Sliver on turn two, and a pumped, flying swing on turn three over any ground defense; a turn-one Mox Diamond lets you jam a two-drop like Crystalline Sliver immediately and accelerate the whole curve by a full turn.
Prioritize resolving Crystalline Sliver early: once it is in play your entire Sliver board gains shroud and simply cannot be hit by the opponent's targeted removal, so deploy it over a higher-impact two-drop when removal is the thing most likely to beat you. Your own Hibernation Sliver and Acidic Sliver still work freely, since neither ability targets.
Hold Hibernation Sliver up as insurance against a sweeper: in response to mass removal, return your best Slivers to hand for two life each, then redeploy next turn. Saving three Slivers for six life is almost always correct, but count your life total first so the activation does not kill you.
Lean on Portent in the grind: cast it on yourself to dig toward more lords like Muscle Sliver and Blade Sliver, or on the opponent to reshuffle a topdeck you do not want them to draw. When boards clog, Acidic Sliver turns surplus Slivers into reach by sacrificing them to deal two damage to the face, and Essence Sliver makes every attack swing your life total back up.
Swords to Plowshares and Lightning Bolt are your only point removal, so save them for a blocker that would otherwise eat several Slivers rather than spending them on the first body you see. Use Fire // Ice in a combat you are winning to Ice a blocker out of the way and push damage through, and keep Disenchant for the artifact or enchantment that is actually stopping your attack rather than firing it blind.

How to beat it

Crystalline Sliver is the entire protection layer, granting every Sliver shroud the moment it resolves; kill key Slivers on the first two turns before it lands, because afterward targeted removal does nothing and you must pivot to non-targeted answers like a board sweeper or an edict effect (forced sacrifice).
The army's stats scale off the lords Muscle Sliver and Blade Sliver; a static effect that gives all creatures of a chosen type -1/-1 wipes those lords and collapses the board without targeting anything, so it kills the engine even through Crystalline Sliver's shroud.
This is a go-wide deck with no real card draw beyond Portent, so develop your own board and bait commitment before you swing; a single sweeper that catches five or six Slivers is a tempo loss it cannot rebuild from.
Before Crystalline Sliver is online, prefer exile-based removal over destroy effects, because Hibernation Sliver lets the deck pay life to bounce its own Slivers to hand and dodge destruction, replaying them later with all lord bonuses intact.
Acidic Sliver turns the board into reach and a late-game mana sink while Essence Sliver gains life on every hit; close the game quickly before Essence Sliver pushes their life out of burn range and before Acidic Sliver can grind out a stalled board.
