Overview
"Mono Black Reanimator cheats a game-ending creature into play far ahead of schedule: Putrid Imp discards Verdant Force, Symbiotic Wurm, or Rorix Bladewing into the graveyard, and Dark Ritual powers out Reanimate, Animate Dead, or Exhume to resurrect it as early as the first turn. Cabal Therapy and Unmask strip the interaction that could stop the play before it lands. Rather than leaning on blue countermagic or green self-mill, the deck stays almost entirely in black, trading on raw speed and proactive hand disruption to assemble and protect its combo."
Game Plan
Use Entomb, Buried Alive, or Putrid Imp to put a game-ending creature in the graveyard, then bring it back with a cheap reanimation spell. Dark Ritual enables explosive turn-one plays. Note: Entomb was banned in standard Premodern on 2018-01-01, so in standard play use Buried Alive or Putrid Imp instead.
