Game Plan

Doomsday is a one-turn-kill combo deck that treats the entire early game as a single question: can the mana and the spell be assembled cleanly enough to go off? The pre-combo turns are spent sculpting that window: Sleight of Hand filters toward Doomsday or the missing ritual, while Duress surgically strips the one counterspell or discard effect that could stop the kill turn. Dark Ritual and Lotus Petal compress the mana cost of Doomsday from three black mana into a turn-one or turn-two window, and Lim-Dûl's Vault earns its four-of status twice over: it finds Doomsday when it is absent and rearranges the top of the library into exactly the pile order required for the finish, all at instant speed the turn before the kill.

Once Doomsday resolves, the deck's library becomes a five-card program. Future Sight is the engine that executes it. With the enchantment in play, the remaining four cards cascade off the top in sequence: Chromatic Sphere and Darkwater Egg sacrifice for colored mana and a draw each, Lion's Eye Diamond provides a burst of three mana at the critical moment, and the final pile card closes the game. Abeyance seals the response window by preventing the opponent from casting instants or activating abilities on the kill turn. Ebony Charm is a one-mana black spell that keeps the pile's mana chain intact. There is no backup plan; the deck wins through this engine or not at all, which means protecting the combo turn with Duress and Abeyance is inseparable from executing it.
